Project description
At Carluke Crescent in North York, the homeowners approached Leo Landscape Studio through our long-time partner, Stonecraft Landscaping, with a deeply meaningful request — to design a custom front-yard water feature guided by Feng Shui principles. After consulting with a Feng Shui expert, the clients sought a design that would attract prosperity, promote balance, and harmonize the home’s natural energy.
Our team was inspired by the cultural depth behind this vision. Using SketchUp and Lumion, we developed an elegant 3D concept that merged traditional symbolism with modern landscape design. The result was a front-yard transformation that goes beyond aesthetics — a space built to encourage peace, abundance, and timeless elegance.
Design Process
Every design decision for this project was rooted in Feng Shui philosophy, where placement, proportion, and materials carry meaning. The chosen Muskoka Red Granite symbolized vitality and prosperity — its natural tones adding both warmth and strength to the landscape.
Following the Feng Shui consultant’s precise dimensional recommendations, the water feature was designed to ensure ideal flow and orientation, optimizing the movement of chi (energy) throughout the property. In alignment with tradition, the feature was strategically concealed from the public street view, reflecting the belief that wealth should be cultivated quietly, not displayed.
To complement the natural stone, we incorporated Unilock Town Hall pavers for the surrounding wall and Maple Precast elements for refined structural detailing. A custom privacy screen was added to discreetly enclose the filtration system, maintaining both beauty and functionality.
Construction & Materials
The project was completed in collaboration with Stonecraft Landscaping over a two-week period, with a total cost of $30,000.
Materials & Features Included:
Muskoka Red Granite – natural stone representing vitality and wealth
Unilock Town Hall pavers – used for textural balance and structure
Maple Precast components – for refined detailing and durability
Custom wooden privacy screen – concealing maintenance area
Landscape lighting – enhancing nighttime ambiance and visual flow
The lighting design was a key component — soft illumination highlights the gentle movement of water while emphasizing the garden’s layered textures. The combination of natural stone, light, and plant life creates a composition that feels alive and harmonious at every hour of the day.
Garden Design & Final Touches
To soften the strong geometry of the hardscape, we designed a lush planting palette around the water feature. The plant selection emphasized texture, movement, and contrast, enhancing the sensory experience of the garden while maintaining balance with the home’s architecture.
The final result is a spiritually aligned front-yard landscape that celebrates both cultural heritage and contemporary craftsmanship. It embodies the essence of Leo Landscape Studio’s design philosophy — merging functionality, meaning, and visual poetry into one cohesive experience.
This project was recently featured on Houzz, where the homeowners shared their experience working with Leo Landscape Studio. Their review highlights our team’s attention to detail, professionalism, and ability to merge Feng Shui principles with modern landscape design.

Results & Impact
This Feng Shui-inspired design transformed the front yard into a sanctuary of calm and intention. The combination of red granite, soft lighting, and flowing water creates a tranquil focal point that symbolizes balance, prosperity, and privacy.
The project stands as a testament to how landscape design can transcend form — becoming an expression of culture, emotion, and artistry. Nestled in one of North York’s most prestigious neighborhoods, this landscape is as meaningful as it is beautiful — a true reflection of thoughtful design and spiritual harmony.
