Project description
This project began as a blank canvas — a newly built custom home in Kleinburg, Vaughan, where the homeowners envisioned a modern, functional landscape designed for everyday living. Leo Landscape Studio was commissioned to lead the complete landscape design, from front to rear, in collaboration with Cresttop Group, a trusted contractor recognized for precision paving and asphalt work.
Design Vision
Our design goal was to create a cohesive and timeless layout that connected the home’s architecture with its outdoor spaces. The property’s modern elevation and clean geometry provided the perfect foundation for a landscape that balances functionality, proportion, and contemporary aesthetics.
Front Yard Design
The front yard transformation focused on elevating curb appeal while ensuring a refined sense of arrival. We applied stone veneer over the builder’s basic concrete foundation, expanding the front entry steps to enhance the scale of the entrance. A custom pillar and address wall with integrated lighting added architectural presence and nighttime visibility.
To complement the home’s design, we introduced a tree-lined driveway and a minimalist planting palette that frames the façade without overwhelming it. The driveway’s subtle patterning and precise joint lines create rhythm and movement, elevating the property’s curb appeal while improving long-term durability and value.
Backyard Design
The rear landscape was designed for family functionality and relaxation. Taking advantage of the property’s natural grading, we divided the backyard into distinct outdoor zones — an elevated dining area, a sunken lounge, and a dedicated play space.
Artificial turf was used to ensure year-round greenery with minimal maintenance, while privacy trees and structural planting along the fence line softened the surroundings, offering both beauty and seclusion. Together, these design elements create an inviting and low-maintenance outdoor environment that reflects the family’s lifestyle.
Material Selection and Detailing
Every material was hand-selected for longevity, texture, and aesthetic compatibility with the home’s architecture. Unilock pavers were used throughout for consistency and durability, while premium jointing sand and drainage layers were engineered to prevent shifting and surface erosion over time. Lighting and edging details were carefully positioned to enhance depth, guide movement, and showcase the landscape’s structure both day and night.
This technical precision ensured that the design’s visual elegance was supported by long-lasting performance — a hallmark of Leo Landscape Studio’s design philosophy.
